GRINDING

Concrete Grinding

There are some reasons why you might be considering grinding your concrete.

Restoring concrete surfaces.

Concrete grinding removes all imperfections and inconsistencies in the concrete, resulting in a smooth and usable surface. Also, if the concrete is old or  damaged it  can be restored to their previous state.

Installing tiles, carpet or hardwood.

Concrete grinding is an essential step before installing floor tiles. The concrete beneath can be rough uneven and even have paint or epoxies on it. Preparing the floors prior to the application of tiles or hardwood is an essential step to ensure the longevity of the floors.

Remove paint, epoxies, dirt.

Grinding removes paint, epoxies, dirt and other remnants left on the concrete.

GRIND & SEAL

The top layer of the concrete is grinded and then a sealer is applied to make the concrete more durable and resistant.

BURNISHED FINISH + SEALING OR DENSIFYING

A polished concrete finish where there is no aggregate exposed.

SALT & PEPPER FINISH

A light grind of the concrete that shows a mild exposure where stone and sand hidden just beneath the surface are revealed.

FULL GRIND & SEAL

The aged layer of the concrete is removed to leave the surface looking like new showing the maximum stone.

SEALING

Concrete Sealing

Concrete sealers protect concrete from damage and deterioration due to water absorption, mould and mildew, weather exposure, grease, and oil stains (they will not penetrate quickly and/or deep into the slab, allowing more time to clean the surface, and avoiding permanent damage), abrasion, efflorescence, etc.

They also help to keep the natural beauty of the concrete.

Sealing the concrete makes it easier to clean (this does not mean that the concrete will not get dirty, but the use of concrete sealers will make the surface easier to clean and possible to recover/rejuvenate).

To ensure decorative concrete lasts a long time and remains attractive, it is essential to seal it”.

DENSIFYING

Concrete Densifying

A concrete densifier is a liquid chemical spread evenly across the floor that penetrates the top surface layer of concrete. Its purpose is to fill the porous holes formed from water evaporation during the curing process, like how water fills the pores of a sponge.

A densifier works by penetrating the surface of the concrete and fusing the inert compounds and sand particles into a crystalline bond. By bonding these loose and weak materials more tightly together, the surface density and abrasion resistance of the concrete surface is greatly increased.
